While the degree of urbanisation in sub-Saharan Africa is still the lowest worldwide, its urban growth rate is the highest. The growth of poverty and deterioration of living standards in urban and rural areas is linked to this process.
Differences between the standard of living and access to services for those living in urban and rural areas within the basin countries will be explored in the Angola and Namibia country sections. A special focus will be placed on water supply and sanitation.
